Box Customizer was a UX/UI design project focused on improving the configuration experience of a custom packaging platform.
The objective was to transform a technically complex process into an interface that felt structured, approachable and easy to navigate, helping users configure packaging solutions with greater confidence.
The Challenge
Packaging customisation involves multiple variables, technical specifications and decision points that can quickly become overwhelming when presented through traditional forms.
The challenge was to design an interface capable of supporting complex product configuration while maintaining clarity and reducing cognitive load throughout the experience.
UX Approach
The primary design goal was to simplify decision-making.
Rather than presenting users with large amounts of information simultaneously, the experience was organised into logical sections that guided users through the configuration process step by step.
Particular attention was given to information hierarchy, visual grouping and progressive disclosure, ensuring users could focus on one decision at a time without losing visibility of the overall configuration.

This structure helped create a predictable workflow while reducing the perceived complexity of the process.
Key Design Decisions
Progressive Disclosure
Complex configuration options were revealed progressively throughout the journey, preventing users from being overwhelmed by technical choices.
Visual Hierarchy
A strong visual hierarchy was used to highlight primary actions, important decisions and configuration summaries, helping users quickly understand where to focus their attention.
Reducing Cognitive Load
Labels, spacing and content grouping were carefully designed to make technical information easier to scan and understand.
Configuration Awareness
Users needed to understand the impact of their choices throughout the process. Feedback and summaries were introduced to help maintain context and build confidence before submission.
Visual Design
The visual language prioritised clarity, consistency and usability.
The interface combines structured layouts, clear typography and focused interaction patterns to support decision-making while keeping attention on the product configuration itself.
Every design decision was made with the intention of making a complex workflow feel simpler and more approachable.
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of balancing flexibility and simplicity.
The challenge was not removing complexity from the system, but presenting it in a way that users could progressively understand and navigate without feeling overwhelmed.
It was a valuable exercise in information architecture, workflow design and designing interfaces for highly configurable products.
