PackBuddies was a branding, UX/UI and WordPress development project created for an independent doggy daycare based in the United Kingdom.
The objective was to establish a strong digital presence that communicated the company’s personality, values and approach to dog care while helping potential customers understand the services offered and build trust before making contact.
The project combined brand exploration, user experience design and front-end development into a single cohesive experience.
The Challenge
Choosing a doggy daycare is an emotional decision.
Dog owners are not simply purchasing a service; they are trusting someone to care for a member of their family. This creates a very different decision-making process compared to traditional service-based businesses.
The challenge was to design an experience capable of communicating professionalism and credibility while maintaining the warmth, friendliness and personality that defined the PackBuddies brand.
At the same time, the website needed to clearly explain services, showcase facilities and encourage enquiries from prospective customers.
Research & Insight
During the discovery phase, it became clear that trust was the primary factor influencing decision-making.
Prospective customers wanted answers to a few fundamental questions:
- Will my dog be safe?
- Will my dog enjoy the experience?
- Can I trust the people caring for my dog?
- What makes this daycare different from others?
A review of competitor websites also revealed that many dog daycare businesses focused heavily on describing services but often failed to communicate personality, environment and emotional connection.
This presented an opportunity to create a more human and engaging experience centred around the relationship between dogs, owners and caregivers.
Design Approach
The design direction focused on creating an approachable and friendly experience without sacrificing clarity or professionalism.
A warm colour palette, generous whitespace and strong imagery were used to showcase real interactions between handlers and dogs, helping visitors visualise the experience their pets would have.
Particular attention was given to balancing emotional storytelling with practical information, ensuring users could quickly understand services while building confidence in the brand.
User Experience Considerations
The experience was designed around the typical decision-making journey of a dog owner.
Information was structured to answer key questions progressively:
- Who are PackBuddies?
- How does the daycare work?
- What services are available?
- Why should I trust them?
- How can I get in touch?
The navigation, content hierarchy and page layouts were intentionally kept simple, allowing visitors to focus on the content rather than the interface itself.
Branding
The brand exploration focused on creating a visual identity that reflected companionship, playfulness and care.
The resulting identity balances a friendly personality with a professional appearance, helping position PackBuddies as both approachable and trustworthy.
The visual language was carried consistently across the website, creating a unified experience between brand and product.
Development
The website was designed and developed using WordPress, providing the client with a flexible and scalable platform for managing content, updating information and growing their digital presence over time.
Responsiveness, performance and ease of content management were key considerations throughout the implementation process, ensuring the experience remained consistent across devices while remaining accessible to non-technical users.
Outcome
The final result was a digital experience that successfully aligned brand, content and user needs.
Rather than functioning solely as a marketing website, the platform became a key touchpoint for communicating the values, personality and quality of the PackBuddies service.
